Compound sea buckthorn seed oil suppository improves the microecological environment of vagina

Abstract
Objective To study the clinical effect of compound sea buckthorn seed oil suppository in regulating vaginal microecological environment and in treatment of vulva vaginal candidiasis complicated with abnormal vaginal flora．Methods A multicenter，prospective，randomized，dose group parallel controlled clinical trial was conducted．The patients were divided into the fluconazole group（fluconazole alone）or combination group（fluconazole combined with compound sea buckthorn seed oil suppository）．Both groups were followed up at Day 7±3 and 4 weeks ± 5 days．Nugent score was used to evaluate the change of vaginal flora．Results Sixty-four women were included in the study，31 cases in fluconazole group，33 cases in combination group．There was no significant difference between the two groups at baseline．The pH value of fluconazole group was higher than that of combination group （4.42±0.48 vs 4.09±0.39，P<0.05）at the second follow-up．At both follow-up，the Nugent scores of fluconazole group were higher than that of combination group（4.55±1.84 vs 3.39±1.44，4.84±1.85 vs 3.06±1.63，P<0.05）．The fungal recurrence rate of fluconazole group was higher than that of combination group at the second follow-up（13/31，41.9% vs 5/33，15.2%，P=0.017）．Conclusion Compound sea buckthorn seed oil suppository can improve the vaginal microenvironment．Combination of fluconazole and coumpound sea buckthorn seed oil suppository is superior to fluconazole alone in the treatment of VVC complicated with abnormal vaginal flora，which can restore vaginal microecological environment more effectively and lower fungal recurrence rate． -
